📖 How is self-employed tax calculated?

As a sole trader you pay Income Tax on profits above your personal allowance, plus Class 2 and Class 4 National Insurance. Unlike employees, nothing is deducted automatically — you pay via a Self Assessment tax return by 31 January each year.
